25kV AC locomotive
An electric locomotive which picks up its electricity supply at 25kV alternating current and transforms it to lower voltage for use by the traction motors.
Warrant: AC Electric Locomotives of British Rail, B Webb & J Duncan, David & Charles, 1979
Plural form: 25kV AC locomotives

45 degree tappet lever frame
A type of mechanical interlocking frame utilising a locking tray at 45 degrees to the vertical.
Warrant: Ray Towell, Curator of Operations, National Railway Museum
Comments: In original entry 'tappet' was spelt 'tappit' but all the signalling references I have seen use 'tappet' which is also the form given in the OED (although one early 19th century usage spells it 'tappit'. [SAH]
Plural form: 45 degree tappet lever frames
